Even 5 years back, I used to wonder why people (across wide strata, time and space) do what they do. It used to make zero sense and a harsh, binary, distant judgement about the individual. Maverick, crazy, pure evil - all these labels flowed with complete conviction. Now most of their actions and thoughts make sense in a projected lived-in manner (despite not having any actual lived in experience or proximity).
Also, aren't all of you just wired to raise the stakes even when the latest friction disappears. Or just grapple with the friction if it hasn't. There truly is not a plateau to rest, not a plain full of tender grass to lie on and absorb the breathtaking view of the vast snowy peaks eternally. Our psyche isn't designed for the same. Lack of or lowering of stakes, for most of you, is truly frightening.
Peace or satisfaction or stability (or whatever you perceive it to be), is either a temporary state or a state of delusion - masking the inner turmoil. Otherwise, a rise in stakes inbuilt in your universe that has already happened without being perceptible. Frictionless freedom is an enabler for you to play God to quell any existential crisis of motive and shut down the possibility of having no problems to solve, no cliff to hold onto - slipping through eternal smoothness into oblivion.
